Weekend What's On: Three things you can't miss in the St Albans area this weekend
Here’s your guide to the best things to do this weekend in St Albans.
Theatre - The Accrington Pals
A chronicle of the terrible waste of war, this is a powerful, funny, intimate and moving tale follows a group of pals who go to fight in the Battle of the Somme and the struggles faced by the women left behind in their small Lancashire town. Barn Theatre, Lane, Welwyn Garden City, until April 5. Details: 01707 324300, barntheatre.co.uk.
Days out - Oxford and Cambridge Goat Race
Forget the historical rivalry taking place on the Thames, we’re not kidding when we tell you that the only race to watch this weekend is the goat race at Willows! Two crews of goats and jockeys will be donning either a light or dark blue coat and racing around the sheep racing track. Oarsome.
Willows Activity Farm, Coursers Road, London Colney, St Albans, April 6. Details: 0870 129 9718, willowsfarmvillage.com
Comedy - Matt Richardson
Join The Xtra Factor co-host on his first visit to Harpenden with his show Hometown Hero which won awards at the 2012 Leicester Comedy Festival.
Harpenden Public Halls, Southdown Road, Harpenden, Thursday, April 10, 8pm. Details: 01582 767525, harpendenpublichalls.co.uk
