Jewellery and a games console have been stolen during a burglary at a house in Harpenden.

Police are appealing for information following the burglary in Luton Road, which took place between 9.45am and 11am on Friday.

The criminals gained access to the property by smashing a window at the rear of the address. Jewellery, an Xbox 360 console and controllers and a number of Xbox 360 games were stolen.

Two men were seen in the area at around 10.50am. They were seen to walk away from the property and walk in the direction of Farm Avenue.

The first is described as a white man in his early 20s, of medium build and around 5ft 9ins tall. He was wearing a yellow high visibility jacket.

The second is described a white man in his early 20s, of stocky build and around 5ft 9ins tall. He was wearing an orange high visibility jacket and carrying a bright yellow satchel-type bag, similar to those used by people delivering newspapers or leaflets.

Paul Cullinan, Detective Constable, said: "This happened during the day and so it’s possible there may have been other people around who might have seen something that could assist the investigation.

"I would like to hear from anyone who saw two men matching the description mentioned in the area around the time of the incident. It’s possible they may have gotten into a vehicle in Farm Avenue.

"If anyone remembers seeing a vehicle, which isn’t usually parked in the area, or anyone acting suspiciously around the time of burglary, please contact me straight away."
