A 25-year-old man, who was left with serious head injuries after a crash in St Albans, remains in hospital in a critical condition.

The crash took place at 12.36am in Harpenden Road on Saturday, March 29 near to the junction with Heathlands Drive, when a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, which was heading north, overtook a Volvo XC90.

For reasons unknown the Evo then collided with the kerb, veered into the opposite carriageway and collided with another Volvo XC90.

The front seat passenger of the Evo remains in St Mary’s Hospital in London with serious head injuries.

The Evo driver, a 26-year old-man, and another passenger, a 24-year-old woman were also seriously injured and taken to Watford General.

The driver of the second Volvo, a 45-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries but was not taken to hospital.

Police are still appealing for witnesses and information.
