UPDATE: Video of M25 lorry fire shows black smoke pouring from flaming vehicle.

A slip road on the M1 has been closed to avoid congestion on the M25 following a lorry fire near London Colney this afternoon.

The M1 London bound exit slip road to the M25 clockwise at Junction 6a has been closed to stop traffic joining problems on the M25 between junctions 22 for the A1081 and 21A for the A405 near St Albans.

Fire crews from Potters Bar, Borehamwood and Garston have now extinguished the lorry, which was carrying cooking oil,on the anti-clockwise carriageway.

Traffic was stopped on both carriageways at about midday. There are no reports of casualties.
