Could you help open new youth cafe?

St Albans & Harpenden Review: Could you help open new youth cafe? Could you help open new youth cafe?

Community groups will have the opportunity to set up a new youth cafe, helped by St Albans District Council.

The council is looking to provide support and possible funding to a community group to launch a new youth café in the district. This follows the launch last year of two youth cafés, one in Redbourn and the other in Cunningham, St Albans.

The cash comes from the Community Grants Fund.

Community groups interested in applying to open a new cafe should contact Nicky Flynn, community engagement officer for the council, on 01727 819518 or email nicky.flynn@stalbans.gov.uk

I am sorry but the council cannot charge a St Albans High Street Coffee shop £6500 per month in rates or council tax for shops. The highest property taxes for shops in the world. Then give this money to someone to set up a shop in competition with the high street cafe?
