People living in Sandridge will now have the opportunity to have a greater say on the development they want for their community.
Sandridge Parish Council will now organise a Neighbourhood Plan following a St Albans District Council meeting on April 24.
Town and parish councils were given the power to draw up Neighbourhood Plans under the Localism Act 2011.
Neighbourhood Plans aim to provide guidance on what future development is considered acceptable and where it should be located.
The plans can indicate locations for homes, transport infrastructure, community facilities and businesses. They also provide guidance on issues such as the protection of heritage.
