Staff at a Harpenden supermarket are celebrating coming top of the charts for their fundraising effort for a charity, which supports carers.
The Co-operative in Southdown Road raised almost £6,000 by organising a range of events and collections throughout the year, in aid of the Carers Trust. When all the cash was counted, the store was revealed to be the highest earner in the area.
Brian Pooley, operations manager, said: "The teams in my area have done a fantastic job, putting the fun into fundraising to raise much needed funds for this worthy cause. I’d like to congratulate them all however, special thanks go to the team at Harpenden, who have shown commitment and dedication to come out on top in our local charts.
"None of this would have been possible without the continued support of our members and customers, so we must extend our appreciation to them, and assure them that their donations will make a real tangible difference to thousands of young lives."
