Thousands filled the Alban Arena on Saturday to enjoy the St Albans and District Family Fair.

Visitors of all ages enjoyed a range of exciting activities and lively interactive sessions both on stage and throughout the arena.

A 'Living the Dream' flash mob, treasure hunt, storytelling and sport sessions were just some of the activities on offer at the fair, which is designed to help people sample and enjoy all that’s on offer in the city.

The idea to run an event where children and parents alike can sample something new was the inspiration of three St Albans mothers; Claire Healy, Karen Broom and Jo Maher.

Ms Healy said: "It was a great day. I would say we had a couple of thousand people through the doors during the day.

"The kids absolutely loved the treasure hunt, which invited the children to visit most of the stalls.

"If people saw things or learned about clubs, support groups and classes that they never knew about and go on to sign up, then that is absolutely great."
