St Albans & Harpenden Review: Get on your bikes for city Charity Cyle ride tomorrow Get on your bikes for city Charity Cyle ride tomorrow

Families to cycling fanatics will take part in St Albans Charity Cycle Ride tomorrow.

As organised by the city Rotary Club residents will cycle either 10, 20, 30 or 40 miles around Hertfordshire to raise money for Keech Hospice Care and Youth Talk.

The ride will start and finish at Oaklands College Campus, Hatfield Road.

Check in for 30 and 40 mile riders begins at 8am for a 8.45am start. For 10 and 20 mile riders it’s a 9am check in with a 9.45am start.

There are claims that 'Peak Oil' has been reached. I believe that statistics show that 'Peak Cycling ' has also been reached and that the amount of cycling is now declimning

It depends which stats you look at.

Nationally there has been a slight decline recenty, possibly due to the wet winter. Locally in St Albans we're up slightly and in larger cities, especially London, cycling has increased significantly. The increase in urban cycling hints that investment in improved cycling facilities yields results.
