A man has been airlifted to hospital after falling more than 25 feet from a rooftop in St Albans.

Ambulance crews were called to Ridgemont Road just before 9am this morning.

Jim Wood, paramedic officer, said: "We treated the man for cuts to his head as well as injuries to his hand and ankle.

"He managed to grab hold of something on his way down which staggered his fall so he's quite lucky that his injuries weren't more serious.

"He was airlifted to London Whitechapel due to the fragile nature of his injuries."
