A drug dealer from London Colney who kept his stash in a limited edition Only Fools and Horses tin has been remanded in custody.

James Bevan, 28, was convicted at St Albans crown court yesterday Wednesday of possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply. He will be sentenced on June 27 when reports have been prepared.

The jury, of seven women and five men, was told almost three grams of cocaine and nine grams of cannabis were found in the tin, which had housed the complete set of the TV comedy's series seven.

Prosecutor David Povall said police armed with a search warrant went to the home Bevan shares with his mother and stepfather at 1pm on November 27 last year.

He said officers had received information from a number of different sources that he was dealing drugs from the house and other locations.

In Bevan's ground floor bedroom they found the tin, along with £320 in £20 notes in his wallet. A text message on a mobile phone read: "No tick. I am doing it for £30", said Mr Povall.

Officers also discovered two small sets of digital scales on top of a kitchen cabinet. Bevan said he used them to weigh the drugs to check he was not being ripped off.

When the police took apart a smoke detector they found a small piece of paper with a list of names or initials on it next to amounts of money. The prosecution alleged this was a dealer's list but Bevan said it referred to people who owed him money for work he did as an electrician.

Bevan, of Oldfield Road, London Colney, claimed the drugs were for his personal use and that he had no intention to supply them.

He had seven convictions for 13 previous offences. In 2004 he was sentenced to three years' youth custody for possessing cocaine with intent to supply.
