A drop-in event to encourage St Albans residents to make a difference in their community and become a volunteer will take place next month.

Timed to coincide with Volunteers' Week, the event will take place in the Volunteer Centre on the ground floor of St Albans Civic Centre between 4pm and 7pm on Wednesday, June 4.

It is hosted by the Centre for Voluntary Service St Albans (CVS), in partnership with St Albans District Council.

CVS staff and members will be at the event to tell people about the range of volunteering opportunities available throughout the district.

There will also be a chance to get involved with some of St Albans' biggest events, including the Alban Weekend from Saturday, June 21 to Sunday, June 22. Volunteers can also help out with The Food and Drink Festival from Wednesday, September 24 to Monday, October 6 and the Christmas Lights' Switch-On on Sunday, November 16.

Alison Halligan, Chief Executive of CVS said: "Come to the volunteering event to find out about the many opportunities to improve your skills, make new friends or give something back to the community."
