A Sandridge church is hosting a family fun afternoon next month, as part of a major community project to promote the area.

St Leonards’s Church invites visitors to attend the fun event on Sunday, June 8, where they can enjoy games, face painting, cake and plant stalls, refreshments, races and a tug-of-war challenge organised by the local Scouts.

Visitors can also take a look around St Leonard's, consecrated about 900 years ago. The church has devised a special 'church trail' to point out the key features.
Rev.

Peter Crumpler, Curate at St Leonard's, said: "We're hoping for sunny weather so that all the family can enjoy taking part in the fun, and having a look around the historic church where worship continues today."

The event will run from 2pm to 5pm and is part of Sandridge 900+, a community initiative for 2014 designed to celebrate everything that the area north of St Albans offers its residents and visitors.
