Pupils from St Albans Girls School were delighted to welcome popular author Julie Hearn in to talk about her recent book.
Julie inspired year nine History students when she visited to speak about her book 'Hazel', which tells the story of a young girl whose view on life is suddenly altered by her witnessing the death of the suffragette Emily Wilding Davison at the Epsom Derby in 1913.
Pupils listened to Julie talk about the suffragette movement, where she showed them propaganda postcards from the time.
Naailah Ahmed, year nine pupil, said: "I really enjoyed it and I thought it was fun, she managed to bring fiction and history together really well".
