Thousands flocked to the Phillimore Recreational Ground over the weekend to enjoy the sunshine, stalls and entertainment at Radlett Festival.

More than 4,000 festival-goers enjoyed performances from the St Albans Brass Band, Radlett Light Opera Society, Watford Eclipse Majorettes, Radlett's Singing Circle and Hare Krishna dancers.

Festival committee chairman Viv Charrett said it was "the best ever" festival because of the combination of good weather and the range of activities and attractions.

Model Jilly Johnson and singer Paul Young entertained the crowd.

The UK's premier mountain bike stunt team Savage Skills demonstrated their tricks to packed crowds while elsewhere there was a special children's activity area for under sevens, a climbing wall courtesy of the Scouts and over 50 stalls mainly run by local voluntary organisations and charities.

The Radlett Festival is run by a team of local volunteers and all profits go to local charities.

Brian Woolrich, regional director at Metro Bank who had a stall at the festival, said: "We're really delighted to have taken part in this year's Radlett Festival.

"This is the fourth year that we have been involved in the festival and it continues to go from strength to strength. As a community bank, building strong relationships with local people and businesses is really important to us and we’re thrilled that this year’s festival has once again been a great success for the community."

The Food Court - enlarged from previous years - included traditional fish and chips, Indian street food, a lamb hog roast, burgers and hot dogs and a bar.

In addition there was a tea and home-made cake stall run by the Guides and the Hare Krishna vegetarian food stall.
