Twinned cities St Albans and Nevers in France have celebrated 40 years of friendship.
The Friends of Nevers association welcomed 27 French visitors, four of whom had never before visited St Albans.
Activities included an anniversary dinner at Aldwickbury Park Golf Club and lively performance by The Ver Players, a local ukulele band.
St Albans Mayor Annie Brewster also took part in the celebrations.
Located in the heart of Burgundy on the River Loire, Nevers is a town with a rich history dating back to Roman times.
It has formed strong cultural, sporting and artistic links with the city over the years.
