A free school that was meant to open in Radlett said it will not be offering year eight places for 2015 due to a lack of demand.

Harperbury Free School was due to open this September in the former Harperbury Hospital in Harpers Lane.

However schools’ minister Lord Nash announced in February the Department for Education (DoE) had failed to secure the site in time, meaning its opening would be delayed for a year.

Headteacher Martin Blain said the school were looking at the possibility of taking year eight pupils next year, but due to a lack of demand this option will no longer be perused.

The school is still hoping to open next year if they can find a permanent site.

If parents are interested in signing up for the school they should email: admissions@harperbury.org.uk.
