On the eve of Wimbledon, as the world’s greatest tennis players gather in the capital, families across St Albans and Harpenden will be given the ultimate chance to get involved in the excitement.

The second in a series of four free ‘Great British Tennis Weekends’ will take place across the district on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22.

The first of the weekends in May saw hundreds of families across the city grabbing the opportunity for free tennis events.

Activities include Cardio Tennis, Mini Tennis, coaching and family tennis activities - all free as part of the LTA and Tennis Foundation’s drive to get more people playing more often.

The second of the ‘Great British Tennis Weekends’ will also place through June and July as follows:

• Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29
• Saturday, July 19 - Sunday, July 20

Leo Tutt, regional tennis participation manager said: "It’s great to see the amount of local people who are grabbing a racket and getting involved. People of all ages and abilities, young and old, parent and child, are all taking this opportunity to hit up their local court for a wide variety of fun and free tennis activities.

"With Wimbledon right around the corner and the excitement around the event palpable, there’s no better time to get down to your local park or club in St Albans and Harpenden and get involved in these fantastic events".

Participating venues offering free tennis this weekend include: Harpenden Sports Centre, Verulamium Park, Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre, Townsend LTC, Harpenden LTC and St Albans LTC.
