Among the names on the Queen's Birthday Honours list were four from the St Albans district.

The list, published twice a year, honours people for their hard work in the community.

St Albans resident Raymond Anderson, chair stakeholder working group on unrecorded rights of way, Natural England was given an OBE for services to public access.

Michael James George Bartlet , from St Albans, Parliamentary liaison secretary for the Society of Friends in Britain was named an MBE for services to equality and social Justice.

While Harpenden resident Julie Newlan was given an MBE for services to Higher Education for her role as pro vice-Chancellor of Enterprise at University of Hertfordshire.

Barry Harvey Welck from Radlett, was awarded for his services to education and learning for disabled people as the founder and chairman of Langdon Foundation.
