Superheroes, cartoon characters, princesses and even Spiderman came together on Saturday to enjoy a St Albans school summer fair.

Skyswood Primary School children voted for the theme of Superheroes and Cartoon Characters for this year’s event and even produced their own professionally published poetry book for the special day.

Star Wars stormtroopers, Biker Scout and a Jedi also turned up as a big surprise for all of the children.

Bob Bridle, school head teacher, said: “This really added to the occasion.

“Three volunteers from Garrison UK turned up on the day in their amazing costumes. They posed for several photos, joined in with the fun, and helped us to judge our own fancy dress competition.

“The event was extremely well attended and was once again rounded off with live music from The Papersnakes. ”

Other attractions included cake making, pony rides, a traditional bouncy castles and special performances from the school choir, Street Dance Club and the Marshalswick Judo Club.

Several of the stalls, including the extremely popular ‘wet sponges at Sponge Bob’ stall and the Where’s Wally Hunt, were also created and organised by the children themselves.

Ricky Barnett, chairman of FOSS (Friends of Skyswood School Parents Association) said he was delighted with the turn out and said “the event fully reflected the strength and commitment of the school community.”
