A St Albans school has been recognised for embedding international curriculum into its learning.

Bowmansgreen Primary School was awarded The British Council’s International School Award by St Albans MP Anne Main during a celebration assembly with pupils, staff and parents.

Christina Smith, school teacher, who is responsible for coordinating the international school’s award, said: "We are extremely proud to receive the award which recognises our rich curriculum and its global dimension.

"The children have enjoyed sending emails to children in China and finding out about their culture and beliefs."

Children have learnt about the Chinese New Year and during English lessons they wrote instructions on how to use chop sticks.

Key stage one children also completed a project to find out how Christmas is celebrated around the world, while Key Stage 2 pupils learn about water in Bangladesh, an Indian village, the French language and completed an ICT project with a class in the USA.
