Staff from a St Albans-based business have climbed to the peak of the UK’s highest mountain to raise £2,000 for Children in Need.

Sixteen team members from Burton’s Biscuit Company agreed to the challenge, completing it in just under six hours.

It is hoped that the climb will set the precedent for the rest of the year’s fundraising activity before the annual event night in November.

Jo Harwood, director of VIP at Burton’s, said: "We’ve been really overwhelmed by the support of everyone at Burton’s in raising money for this climb, so much so that we increased the initial £1,000 target to £1,500 in a number of weeks.

"The £2,000 raised means that we’ve beaten that target too, so it’s a great result."

Last year the company raised more than £79,000 for charity.
