A St Albans and Harpenden volunteer has been shortlisted for a national award for delivering IT to the elderly.
John Talbot has volunteered for ten years for his Computer Friendly charity in St Albans and Harpenden training silver surfers and disadvantaged people to discover life online.
His charity already delivers the Policy Exchange recommendation: "Government should offer elderly lessons in the internet to encourage them to 'discover life online' He has obtained the funds to keep the charity going despite recent funding cuts."
Mr Talbot has now been short-listed as 'IT Volunteer of the Year 2014' for the Technology4Good national awards.
He said: "Over the last few years everyone has been cutting back on their spending, so it has been very difficult to fund marketing.
"We have an incredible resource of 36 volunteers delivering courses to over 600 people a year. It's vital that we find the way to maximise what we can deliver."
