Upcoming football stars from St Albans City Youth Football Club were recognised for their skills and dedication at an awards ceremony on Sunday.
Players of the Year from almost 60 football teams were each presented with an award by the Mayor of St Albans, Geoff Harrison at the St Albans Arena ceremony on Sunday, June 15.
From mid-day, Mayor Harrison, handed out awards to Players of the Year from the Under-8 to Under-10 teams.
In the afternoon, awards were presented by the Deputy Mayor, Janet Churchard, to Players of the Year from the Under-11 to Under-13 teams.
In the evening, the Mayor took to the stage again to give awards to Players of the Year from the Under-14 to Under-18 teams.These were just some of the awards presented to junior players from the club during the day-long event.
Mayor Harrison said: "It was a brilliant day with many up-and-coming local football stars from St Albans City Youth FC being presented with awards. I was impressed by their level of skills, dedication and drive to do their best in what is a fiercely competitive sport. I congratulate them all on being named Players of the Year for their respective teams."
Malcolm MacMillan, St Albans City Youth FC president, described the efforts put in over the season by players and all connected with the club as "inspirational".
