A 21-year-old has been charged with criminal damage and possession of a loaded air rifle in public after CCTV cameras in St Albans were vandalised.

Harley Lyons-Crisp of Ridgeway in Kenworth, Bedfordshire was charged yesterday (Tuesday, June 24).

More than £900 worth of damage was caused to four cameras when they were shot at using an air rifle between 5pm on Friday, April 18 and 7.40am on Monday, April 21.

The cameras were installed by St Albans District Council in Bedmond Lane to catch fly-tippers in April.

Lyons-Crisp is due to appear at Central West Herts Magistrates Court on July 11.
