Unsuspecting St Albans shoppers were treated to random acts of kindness this weekend as young people took to the streets on a mission to help bring a smile to people out and about in the city.

The 247 project community group were out in force on Saturday handing out balloons, washing cars, giving away cakes and hand massages for free.

Three-year-old Raphael was delighted with his present from project organiser Mike Palin.
