Police are hunting for a man who exposed himself in St Albans.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said that a man, aged between 30 and 40, indecently exposed himself to a woman in her 20s along Sandpit Lane, near the junction of Clarence Road at around 10.30pm on Wednesday, July 16.

After exposing himself, the man allegedly spoke to the woman before she crossed the road to get away from him.

Hertfordshire Constabulary stressed that the man made no attempt to follow the woman and instead walked away.

The man is described as white and of medium build. He had dark brown hair, which was "spiked with a gel-like product". He was wearing a dark coloured t-shirt with a white or light-coloured motif centred on the front of it.

PC James Irlen, who is investigating the incident, said: "The victim has been left understandably shaken by what happened and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to make contact with police.

"It is believed there were a number of people in the road directly before and after the incident and so I would urge any such people, who remember seeing someone acting unusually or suspiciously, to contact me straight away.

"If you believe you know the identity of the man, please call me."

Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact PC Irlen via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency 101, citing crime reference F1/14/2316. Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
