A £55,000 resurfacing scheme in St Albans starts today.

Chequers Street and St Peters Street will be closed from 8pm until 5am for five nights while the work is completed.

During this time Victoria Street will be open for residential access only.

Terry Douris, cabinet member for highways, said: "We appreciate that these significant resurfacing works are likely to cause disruption and inconvenience to motorists. We apologise for this and would ask everyone for their co-operation while the work is in progress."

The work is weather dependent and Hertfordshire County Council said "unforeseen circumstances" may arise with work continuing outside the advertised hours.

Bus service routes may be affected by these works. For more information visit: www.intalink.org.uk
The work is being carried out by Eurovia on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council.
