Labour councillors in the Batchwood Ward of St Albans are urging residents to make their views known in two public consultations.

Roma Mills. Martin Leach and Malachy Pakenham are concerned about the consequences of Hertfordshire Counry Council cutting back on opening times at a household waste site and reducing the subsidy to local bus services.

The councillors fear fly-tipping may increase if the county council proceeds with proposals to close the St Albans waste site near the King William Junction for two days a week and limit opening hours from 8am to 4pm.

They are also concerned a cut in bus subsidy would mean the UNO bus service from the New Greens estate to Welwyn Garden City would be axed on Sundays and no longer operate after 6.30pm.

Residents are being asked to visit the Herts Direct website and make their views known.
