To mark 100 years since the start of the World War One, St Albans Cathedral will be participating in a nationwide event by holding a solemn candlelit vigil on Monday.
The cathedral will host the vigil, which is open to everyone, today from 10pm until 11pm.
Coinciding with the national memorial vigil in Westminster Abbey, the candles will be extinguished at 11pm - marking the moment of the declaration of war.
