An appeal launched against St Albans City and District Council’s decision to refuse a planning application on Waverley Road has been allowed.

Oliver O’Reilly submitted the appeal after the council refused building a new house after an existing chalet bungalow was demolished.

The planning inspectorate has granted planning permission as long as building work begins within three years, the building materials are agreed upon and no work takes place on any Sunday or Bank Holiday.

The council originally turned down the application after concerns about the effect on the streetscene.
