A DIY store in St Albans is offering an opportunity to join a scheme designed to help create careers in interior design.

Homebase has launched an interior design and decorating academy - a programme offering people aged 16 and above qualifications and experience focused on interior design and decorating.

Academy students will be working full-time in their local Homebase store’s ‘Design Hub’ on Griffiths Way, to gain experience of helping customers decorate and redesign the look and feel of any room in their home.

Time will also be spent with industry experts and big brand suppliers of Homebase. Successful applicants will study towards a city and guilds accredited qualification in interior design and decorating, receive visual merchandising training and experience, as well as customer service training.

Additionally, the students will have the opportunity be involved with well-known interior design shows such as Grand Designs Live.

Throughout the scheme students will receive their own personal set of decorating tools.

For more information and to apply for a place on the academy, visit: www.homebasecareers.com before Sunday August 3.
