Those from the St Albans and Harpenden area dealt with by magistrates on Thursday, July 17.

Ben Stephen Roberts, 23, of Lybury Lane, Redbourn. On December 31, 2012, assaulted a person thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm. Also, on November 16, 2013, assaulted a person by beating her. Community order made with unpaid work requirement. Compensation, costs: £410.

Janine Francis Brooks, 24, of Bardwell Court, St Albans. On June 13, 2014, stole items worth £168.40 from BHS, St Albans. Commission of a further offence during the operational period of a suspended sentence order made for theft. Also, failed without reasonable excuse to comply with a community order. Committed to prison for total of 13 weeks.

Mark Wainaina, 41, of Watling Street, Radlett. On April 4, 2014, assaulted a person by beating her. Community order made with exclusion and unpaid work requirements. Compensation, costs: £880.

Keith Andrew Betts, 50, of Kingsmead, St Albans. On January 10, 2014, drove in Watford Road, Chiswell Green, at a speed in excess of the 30mph legal limit. Fine, costs: £305. Six penalty points.

Nicola Caffery, 40, of St James Road, Harpenden. On January 5, 2014, drove in Elstree Way, Borehamwood, at 37mph, the legal limit being 30mph. Fine, costs: £120. Three penalty points.

Sonal Gosling, 41, of Parkinson Close, Wheathampstead. On January 13, 2014, drove in Bricket Road, St Albans, without due care and attention. Fine, costs: £376. Three penalty points.

Christopher Edward Hale, 24, of Morris Way, London Colney. On January 30, 2014, drove in Shenley Road, Borehamwood, without due care and attention. Also, on same date, failed to stop after an accident where damage was caused to another vehicle; failed to report accident to police within 24 hours. Fine, costs: £437. Five penalty points.

Steven McGinty, 32, of Hatfield Road, St Albans. On January 13, 2014, drove in Barnet Road, London Colney, while using a hand-held telephone. Fine, costs: £305. Three penalty points.

James Johnson, 22, of Stanley Avenue, St Albans. On January 11, 2014, used a vehicle without insurance. Also, on same date, used a vehicle in respect of which excise duty was payable when a vehicle licence was not affixed and exhibited in the appropriate manner. Fine, costs: £371. Eight penalty points.

Tom Beaney, 53, of Barley Mow Lane, St Albans. On January 15, 2014, drove in Fairlands Way, Stevenage, without a valid licence. Also, on same date, used a vehicle to which no test certificate had been issued. Fine, costs: £505.

Mzingaye Moyo, 24, of Artisan Crescent, St Albans. On January 12, 2014, used a vehicle in Chequer Street, St Albans, without insurance. Fine, costs: £316. Six penalty points.
