Teenagers in St Albans have been taking part in different community projects during the summer holidays.

Hertfordshire County Council’s Youth Connexions has supported the 27 young people to undertake projects as part of the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme.

They supported homeless young people by collecting food and personal products from local supermarkets and making up care boxes which were distributed by the Open Door Project based in Bricket Wood.

A second project saw them put on an afternoon of vibrant entertainment for elderly people in the Rosebery House residential care home in Harpenden.

The four-week National Citizen Service (NCS) programme sees the young people choose a worthwhile community cause, plan and budget for the project, raise funds and carry out the work.
