Aspiring photographers can learn how to make the most of their digital cameras at a one-day photography workshop for beginners at the Museum of St Albans on Saturday, September 27.

Using the museum’s collection of photographs of life in 1970s St Albans as inspiration, participants will put skills they learn into practice by taking their own shots.

This workshop is designed for photography novices who own a digital camera, but are not sure how to make the most of its functions.

Tutor, Sarah Stephens, will help participants discover what their camera can do and what settings will enable them to take great photographs.

Councillor Annie Brewster, Portfolio Holder for Sports, Leisure and Heritage for St Albans City and District Council, said: "If you are a novice photographer and always tend to rely on the ‘auto’ function, this fun workshop will help you learn more about your camera.

"You will also have the opportunity to put your new-found skills to the test drawing inspiration from 1970s photographs of St Albans life. By the end of the workshop you will end up with your own great images of life today in our wonderful City."

The one-day workshop runs from 10am to 3pm and costs £10. To book, contact 01727 819340.
