A man from Poland visiting his family in St Albans died last week after collapsing.
The man in his 60s collapsed in Gladstone Place just after 2pm on Wednesday.
He was initially helped by a member of the public who carried out CPR before the officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary came across the man and carried on with CPR until the ambulance arrived.
Sadly the man died at around 3pm.
St Albans Safer Neighbourhood Sergeant Ann-Marie Owen said: "PCs Woods and Iqbal, and the woman who helped initially, desperately tried to save the man and deal with concerned passers-by until paramedics arrived.
"They also supported his family who were understandably traumatised by his sudden death."
