Desperate pet owners have delivered more than 1,400 leaflets to help try and find their missing cat.

Gooby has been missing from the Lyndhurst Drive area of Harpenden since Saturday, August 23 when he was accidently let out of the house while his owners were away.

An indoor cat, he apparently panicked when the pet sitter fell over and they lost sight of him halfway down Granby Avenue in Harpenden.

Gooby is diabetic and needs daily medication. Gooby’s owner Matt Pipkin said: "We’ve had many false alarms and no verified sightings so far but can’t give up hope.

"We go out every morning and night and walk the streets looking under bushes and talking for neighbours but are starting to lose hope.

"Today is day 16 and we need our friends and neighbours to take just two minutes of their time to walk through their gardens this weekend and if they see something that looks like Gooby, take a picture and send it to us."

Gooby has a distinctive white ridge on his nose and the white ring near the base of his tail.
