A 16-year-old athlete from Wheathampstead is one step closer to fulfilling her Olympic dream having been sponsored £1,000.

Chloe Alvis is being sponsored by BrightHouse, and the money will help her to continue her judo training.

The St George’s School pupil is a member of the Redbridge and St Albans Judo Club and hopes to compete in the sport at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

Chloe, who lives in Conquerors Hill, said: "It has been a demanding year with lots of competitions, as well as my coaching and GCSEs, so I’m really grateful for BrightHouse’s continued support of my training.

"As we enter the final two years before the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, I’m looking forward to training hard and continuing to improve on my results."

Chloe trains four days per week with further competitions and training at the weekends, and last year won Bronze in the British Judo Championships and Silver at the UK School Games, as well as coming 9th in the European Cup.

She is due to compete in the Heart of England judo competition in the Midlands in September, the Great North Open in Gateshead in October and the Welsh Open in November.

Chloe also teaches weekly judo classes at St Albans and Redbridge and is studying A-Levels in german, PE, and photography.
