St Albans District Council has applied to demolish 113 garages around St Albans to build affordable homes.

The first application for Partridge Road Garages involves demolishing 57 garages and erecting 18 new garages, six, two bedroom flats, five, two bedroom flats, one, one bedroom flat and one, three bedroom flat. A total of 38 parking spaces would also be supplied.

The site is currently occupied by two rows of garages of only a small number are currently in use under a licence agreement with the Local Authority.

Elsewhere in Ladies Grove, plans have been submitted to demolish 23 garages and build two, two bedroom flats, two, one bedroom flats with parking and amenity space.

Finally, in Blundell Close the council has submitted plans to demolish 33 garages to build three, one bedroom bungalows, one, two bedroom bungalows and four, two bedroom flats.

The plans were submitted on September 3.
