The achievements of St Albans and Harpenden youth council members have been honoured at an awards ceremony.

Mayors for St Albans and Harpenden presented awards at the ceremony - organised by Youth Connexions, which supports youth councils in the district.

Councillor Geoff Harrison, Mayor of St Albans, presented awards to St Albans Youth Council members for their work, including campaigning on mental health.

Among the recipients was Angela Thick who has been on the St Albans Youth Council for six years, serving as vice chairman and chairman during that time.

She also played a key role in the youth council’s campaign for greater provision for young people with mental health issues.

St Albans Youth Council members Ellie Appleyard, Ben Larkworthy and Joe Looney also received awards for helping to organise the summer sounds youth music festival.

In addition, members of Harpenden Youth Town Council - Tegan Reedy, Olivia Brown, Joe Pearce and Edward Kennington - were honoured at the ceremony. They were presented with awards by Ccouncillor Mary Maynard, Mayor of Harpenden, for their community work, including developing a youth discount scheme.
