A pet charity is appealing to animal-lovers to give a home to an unlucky cat who found herself homeless after her owner passed away.

The 14-year-old black moggie, named Lucky, has spent a total of 100 days at the rehoming centre in Kimpton.

Robyn Messingham, animal welfare assistant at Blue Cross says: "Poor Lucky really isn’t living up to her name. She arrived here under really sad circumstances from a very loving home.

"Not only is her age putting people off her, but black cats stay with us much longer as they are less desirable than other coloured felines."

The centre helps find new home for over 500 dogs, cats and rabbits every year. Lucky is just one of the 155 cats cared for by the centre so far this year.

Robyn adds: "Lucky is such a beautiful cat and she has such a sweet nature. She will make such a wonderful companion. It would be great to find someone who is around for some of the day as Lucky is an indoor cat who likes to be around people."
