Fine food, cookery demonstrations and cocktail making classes were enjoyed by crowds of 12,000 at the St Albans Street Food Festival.

The event on Sunday offered visitors the opportunity to sample locally-produced food and drink.

There were more than 60 stalls in St Peter’s Street selling a wide variety of food and drink.

Councillor Beric Read, portfolio holder for community engagement and localism at St Albans District Council, said: "The street food festival provides a great showcase for local food and drinks businesses.

"Visitors have a fantastic time sampling and buying a wide variety of food and drink and are able to pick up cooking tips."

This event is one of the many held during the St Albans and Harpenden Food & Drink Festival. Other highlights included the CAMRA’s St Albans Beer and Cider Festival, Harpenden Street Food Festival and the Mayor’s charity food and wine tasting events.

Last month, Harpenden's Street Food Festival was held at Church Green.

A variety of stalls were set up with traders offering a multitude of food and drink from local businesses in and around Harpenden.

The St Albans and Harpenden Food & Drink Festival is organised by the council with the aim of supporting the local economy by attracting visitors to the district.
