A "ludicrous" application to build an electricity generator plant in St Albans has been withdrawn.
UK Power Reserve Limited submitted an application to St Albans District Council last month to build the plant at Alban Park, Hatfield Road.
Neighbours expressed their concerns to the Review, and said they would "fight until the end" to make sure the application to build eight gas engines was denied.
Anne Main MP has welcomed the withdrawal of application. She said: "There were too many unanswered questions surrounding the negative impact of the development to the local area. Noise and pollution were concerns listed by residents.
"I met with anxious residents who expressed their concerns. After looking into the matter further I could understand why.
"The applicant, in my view, did not provide sufficient detail on the negative impact of noise and light on local residents. There were also unanswered questions on the effect the development would have on the environment.
"Details of the application aside, it appeared the developer was trying to rush through the plans without the consideration of local residents, so I was pleased to meet with them and raise their and my concerns to the council.
"If the applicant does resubmit plans, details need to be hammered out that would satisfy the very real concerns that constituents have already expressed. But, for now at least, this is good news."
