The Prime Minister's Deputy Chief of Staff has been selected as the Conservative candidate for Hertsmere.
Oliver Dowden secured the backing from more than 50 percent of Tory members in the first round of voting last night.
The St Albans resident says he has vast experience, specialising in domestic policy reform, immigration, welfare, health and criminal justice.
Bushey North Councillor Leslie Winters said: "Oliver was delighted with the win."
