A woman from St Albans has raised more than £2,000 for a children’s charity.
Lucy Hancock has been fundraising for Wishes 4 Kids and is gearing up to climb Mount Kilimanjaro next year.
Lucy, who lives in Park Street, said she was inspired by the celebrity climb back in 2009 for comic relief.
The 21-year-old said: "The reason I'm completing this is because the charity I have chosen supports children who face big challenges each day of their lives.
"To me, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a massive challenge, and although it will be in a different way, I would like to feel connected to them by taking part in a challenging life experience at the same time as making a difference for some."
Wishes 4 Kids was created to grant a wish for children and youngsters in Leicestershire who are life limited, terminally ill, have experienced life-changing physical or emotional traumas, have suffered major abuse or are diagnosed as HIV Positive.
It will take Lucy six to seven days to travel from bottom to top with each day having a minimum of six hours trekking. Her adventure begins on January 30, 2015 and her fundraising target by November is £4,000.
Through participating in half marathons, bungee jumps and many of fundraising opportunities events she is currently on £2279. To donate visit: https://www.justgiving.com/lucyhancock93/.
