A Conservative district councillor has been selected to fight for a safe seat in the next election.
Heidi Allen, who represents Marshalwick South on St Albans District Council, went up against two other women for the nomination to fight South Cambs constituency for the Conservatives.
She will succeed the constituency’s current MP, Mr Lansley - who will stand down next year after 16 years in the post.
