Journalist John Pilger Pupils visited St Albans Girls' School to give a talk on the role of the media and life as a corespondent on the battle front.
Mr Pilger, who has worked for the Daily Mirror, The Guardian and The New Statesman, taught year 12 and 13 Sociology, and Politics and Government students about the role of media and its role in contemporary life, as well as opening a lively question and answer session.
Born in Australia in 1939, Mr Pilger was a war correspondent in Vietnam, Iraq and also East Timor, and has made numerous films and documentaries including Year Zero, The Secret Country and Utopia.
Natasha Morsman, a sociology student at the school, said: "I was really satisfied with the answers he gave to my questions.
"It was interesting to hear his perception of the media saturated society we live in and how it can be used to manipulate the public's views."
