Harpenden Seniors Forum has started running a series of cookery classes for men and women.
The seniors prepared three dishes, each for two people and ready to cook at home, under the practised eyes of Sarah Cripps and Jane Todd of Kitchen Front, a Harpenden-based cookery training company.
Fiona Gaskell, acting chairman of Harpenden Seniors Forum, said: "We are encouraging men to attend these classes because we think they may need more help, and it seems to be working.
"But women who would like to attend are very welcome, too. As the classes have been so well received we hope to hold more next year."
The forum, which has 1,400 members in the AL5 postcode area, organises a range of free events for seniors.
The cooking classes are being held on Tuesday afternoons at Cornelia’s community café in Harpenden.
