Police are appealing for information following a burglary in St Albans during which several items of jewellery were stolen.

The burglary occurred in Hatfield Road between 11.05am and 8.25pm on Wednesday, October 29.

The offender(s) gained entry via the rear garden and smashed the glass in a rear patio door to get into the property.

An untidy search was carried out and the offender(s) then left in an unknown direction, taking a number of jewellery items.

They include: • A gold wedding ring • A gold necklace with hoop pendant and a gold heart inside • A thrupenny brooch • A silver Shetland Viking pendant • A gold locket engraved ‘DB 1968’ on the back • Gold hoop earrings with hearts • Silver drop earrings with a butterfly on • Gold earrings with dark green gem stones

Detective Constable Chris Fisher, who is investigating, said: “These items are of great sentimental value to the victim and I am keen to trace those responsible for taking it as soon as possible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to contact me. I would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered any of these items for sale in suspicious circumstances.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Fisher via the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference F1/14/3523.
