Speeding hotspots in St Albans have been identified.

The St Albans Central, North and West Safer Neighbourhood team has identified the ‘hotspots’ as Batchwood Drive, The Ridgeway and Cottonmill Lane.

PC Barry Eldridge said: "We have been educating drivers using the speed indication device followed up with speed enforcement using the speed gun where drivers can expect to be fined, referred to driving improvement scheme or summoned directly to court for excessive speed."

The other two neighbourhood priorities for the team are currently purse-dipping in the city centre, Morrisons, Waitrose and Sainsburys and theft of bicycles in the city centre, Cottonmill estate and Cell Barnes Lane.

The neighbourhood priorities are the most topical issues that local people have asked police to deal with. New

PC Eldridge said: "If you want a say in deciding what the neighbourhood priorities should be, please call us, email or write in, or come along to one of our advertised ‘surgeries’ around your neighbourhood (which are advertised).   The neighbourhood priorities are reviewed quarterly at Priority Setting Forums attended by police, local councillors and other partners. Let us know if you want to be involved."
